South American interlaboratories comparison program for the textile industry
Participation in interlaboratory programs is a requirement of the ABNT NBR ISO 17025:2005 standard (item 5.9) to attest to the technical competence of a laboratory and to register the continual improvement of its techniques in order to ensure the quality of its results. IPT coordinates the South American interlaboratories comparison program for the textile industry, which consists of tests performed by the participating labs on samples distributed by the program coordinator.
The program requires two rounds of evaluations slated for April and October. The participant receives an instruction manual containing information about the receipt and handling of samples and the return of test results, which is valid for the evaluations foreseen in the program.
Total confidentiality is ensured for participants, who are identified by a code known only to themselves and IPT. At the end of each round, the participant receives a report ranking him in relation to the other labs and including possible guidelines for improvements.
