Characterization and quality control of biotechnological and pharmaceutical products


The development of a biotechnological process or product involves a series of parameters that are indispensable for evaluation of their technical and economic feasibility, such as productivity, costs and quality, which must be compatible with market demands and applicable legislation.

Chemical and microbiological characterization analyses are indispensable tools for monitoring such processes, and are decisive items for the continuity or change of course of a technological development.

IPT is qualified to monitor all kinds of bioprocesses. Analyses of sugars, organic acids, complex carbohydrates, polymers, surfactants, alcohols, solar filters, pharmaceutical or cosmetic products are common, besides the capacity to develop analytical methodologies. In addition to these chemical analyses, the group is well equipped to perform a wide range of microbiological evaluations, as well as antimicrobial activity studies.
