Evaluation of sterility and chemical characterization of medical-hospital products
Sterilization processes as well as other aseptic techniques constitute important procedures for the prevention and control of infections. In the medical-hospital area, proof of the sterility of products is an indispensable prerequisite for their sale.
IPT performs tests that reveal the presence of viable microbial contaminants (bacteria and fungi) by means of direct inoculation methods, membrane filtration and closed system membrane filtration (Pharmacopeia America USP XXIX). Tests are performed on medical-hospital products, pharmaceutical products, medicines and related products. In addition to sterility evaluation, these products are also characterized from a chemical standpoint using analytical and instrumental techniques.
