Technological support for wood preservation and disposal of treated wood residues
The rational use of wood calls for its preservation, i.e., chemical treatment to prevent biodeterioration by fungi and wood-eating insects.
IPT is equipped to support companies of the construction industry and utilities (electric energy, telephone systems and railways) in the inspection and quality control of treated wood products and of treatment processes.
IPT has an agreement dating back 40 years with the Brazilian Association for Wood Preservation – ABPM, for quality control (tests and analyses) of treated wood and wood treatment products, supporting public purchases of poles, crosspieces, ties, fence-posts and treated wood for construction.
On the environmental side, IPT can help companies and public bodies in the characterization of treated wood residues and in proposals for their alternative disposal.
