Computer modeling of aquifers and contaminated subsurface soils

The presence of free-phase or dissolved contaminants in saturated soil can be identified based on physicochemical analyses of the subsoil and groundwater. Simulating the conditions of groundwater in the soil matrix using computational models enables interpretation of the diffusion and dispersion of contamination plumes. Definition of the contamination, in turn, enables the preparation of intervention projects for the recovery or remediation of contaminated areas.
